046] Global Mapper - Parallel Line Offset: Create Parallel Lines Spaced from Selected Line Feature(s)
Today, we will explore the "offset" function, which is commonly used in CAD software.
Previously, this specific feature was not available in Global Mapper. In the past, we had to draw buffer lines and then convert those buffers back into line features to achieve a similar result.

Let’s get started.
First, draw a line on the screen and select it.
Right-click - Select Advanced Feature Creation Options - Create Parallel Lines Spaced from Selected Line Feature(s).
The settings window will then appear.
- Number of Parallel Lines: The number of parallel lines to be created in each direction.
- Parallel Line Spacing: The distance between the parallel lines. You can change the units here.
- Create Parallel Lines on: Select the direction for line creation. This is based on the direction from the starting point to the end point of the segment.
- Create Non-Overlapping Lines: If the reference line is complex, this option prevents the generated lines from overlapping each other.
When you click OK, a window appears to configure the attributes of the lines to be created.
After adding styles, layer names, and attributes, click OK.
Yes, they have been created correctly.
It’s quite simple. You might find it hard to believe that this feature wasn't available until recently.
